Search for source of oil spill in Port of brisbane

MARITIME safety authorities are investigating the source of an oil spill at the Port of Brisbane.

Globules of oil have been found on the water and there is some coating of oil on structures at the wharf, a Maritime Safety Queensland spokesman said.

Staff at the Port of Brisbane noticed the slick just after midnight, but authorities were unable to determine the extent of its spread in the dark.

Investigations by maritime authorities after sunrise determined the oil spill was relatively small.
