Searching for the next Miss Tweed
TWEED residents are invited to get their dancing shoes on when the 2012 Miss Tweed Balls kick starts on Saturday, April 14.
The Tweed Combined Country Halls Association event starts with their 45th anniversary at the Uki Hall with 2012 Miss Tweed Balls- Miss Uki.
Secretary Wendy Warren said the competition will feature tiny tots (9 years and under), under juniors (14 years and under), Miss 15 years and over and the seniors - otherwise known as the open age group.
"It is a community event which has been happening over the years with so much interest from the community," Ms Warren said.
"The events are fun for the whole family, each winner is provided with a sash gift from the committee of the hall.
"There will be live music played by Trilogy and county style supper will be provided, each night."
The 2012 Miss Tweed Balls will crown a Miss Uki, Miss Tumbulgum, Miss Tyalgum, Miss Bilambil, Miss Burringbar, Miss Crystal Creek, Miss Terranora, Miss Strokers Siding, Miss Pottsville, Miss Chillingham and, finally, Miss Tweed in August.
All the finalists will compete at the Miss Tweed Final, where the winner will get a trophy including prizes from the halls and those donated by the people.
