Secret location of Olley’s belongings to be revealed
THE secret storage location of Margaret Olley's personal belongings will be cracked open once again for the fourth of the Tweed River Art Gallery's Top Drawer Tours.
Previous tours have sold out and after a flood of requests from the public, the art gallery and Friends of the Gallery will host the fundraiser again at 10am on April 13.
Those in attendance will be bussed to the gallery's secretive storage facility, where the contents of Olley's home studio have been packed and stored in preparation for a display at the Margaret Olley Art Centre, which is currently under construction.
Tweed River Art Gallery director Susi Muddiman said that the weekend tour would now allow nine to five workers the chance to get involved.
"There were so many people on the waiting list from the last tours and the President of the Friends Lyn Stewart was so disappointed to turn guests away," she said.
"The Friends work so hard for the gallery that I didn't have to heart to say no.
"I am really delighted that our visitors are so enthusiastic about the Olley centre and keen to support the project."
The tour will include morning tea and a presentation at the gallery, before guests get a chance to take a look at many of Olley's belongings which featured in many of her paintings.
Tickets are $30 and available from the art gallery on 02 6670 2790.
