SELMA Blair won't stay quiet about the threats James Toback made on her life.

"I had literally been afraid for 17 years of James Toback," the actress, 45, told the ladies of The Talk in the US, adding that the director "threatened to murder me and put cement shoes on [me] and gouge my eyes out with a Bic pen if I ever told anybody".

Blair - who revealed the details of her harrowing 1999 encounter, in which the director allegedly rubbed his penis against her in a hotel room, to Vanity Fair in October - said the accusations against Harvey Weinstein prompted her to come forward.

"When I came out, there [were a couple of accusers] who spoke about Weinstein, and it hadn't become this big thing yet, but this was weighing on me," she said, describing the accusations against men in Hollywood as a "moment that turned into a movement".

But it wasn't until she saw Toback's name become a hashtag on Twitter that she decided to come forward, even though she initially remained anonymous.

"I wouldn't go on the record, I was still afraid," she explained, adding that she changed her mind when she saw that the director - who has now been accused by more than 300 women - deny the allegations, calling his accusers a "lying co**sucker or c**t or both," which surfaced in Rolling Stone. "I said if I could be a bigger voice, then I will."

Toback is now under investigation by the LAPD and the Los Angeles district attorney, and Blair feels he belongs behind bars.

"I do, I do think James Toback belongs in jail … I would hope that he would be found guilty," she said.
