Seniors connected with services and people at new hub

THE Tweed Shire Seniors Information Hub was officially opened today in Banora by Tweed mayor Barry Longland.

The facility brings together people and connects them with each other as well as services and activities in the community which can enhance and improve their lives.

"I'm honoured to officially open this wonderful space, which is already proving very popular with local seniors," Councillor Barry Longland said.

"The Tweed Shire Seniors Information Hub is a place to support clients and seniors more broadly."

"Many people who live in this area have moved here from somewhere else and may be missing family and friends, as well as knowledge about services available in the Tweed and the region."

Client Victoria Houghton-Ward believes that more people need to know about the news centre.

"When I've talked to my friends about coming down here they either not come or just think it's for the very frail elderly," Mrs Houghton-Ward said.

The Tweed Shire Seniors Information Hub is open on Tuesday from 12.300pm to 4pm and on Wednesday, Thursday and Fridays from 9.30am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 4pm.
