Aguero punches fan after City defeat
SERGIO Aguero looks set for a spell on the sidelines after becoming involved in an ugly clash with fans following Manchester City's FA Cup defeat to Wigan.
The incident, which was caught by television cameras, shows Aguero throwing a punch in the direction of an opposition fan on the pitch.
The City striker then had to be held back by assistant manager Mikel Arteta as tensions escalated.
Wigan fans invaded the DW Stadium pitch after the final whistle to celebrate their side's stunning upset of the EPL leaders.
The scene turned even uglier, with television cameras in the tunnel capturing footage of Guardiola and Wigan manager Paul Cook in a major verbal confrontation and being kept apart by staff.
Wigan chairman David Sharpe told BBC Radio 5 Live: "Probably, we will get in trouble. It's not really right what has gone on but it's the emotions of football.
"I can't blame the football fans but I don't like taunting the opposition after a win. There will be plenty of occasions where they can taunt us and we wouldn't like it so it's not nice but I can understand why."
Guardiola and City's quest to win an unprecedented quadruple is now over following the unexpected 1-0 defeat to the third tier side.
In an uncanny repeat of the 2013 FA Cup final, in which City had a player sent off before losing to a late Wigan winner, Guardiola's side had Fabian Delph dismissed amid stormy scenes before Will Grigg's 79th-minute goal decided the game.
It was only City's second defeat to English opposition since losing an FA Cup semi-final to Arsenal last April while their opponents can now look forward to a quarter-final home tie with Southampton.
