Serial thief handed suspended sentence

A SERIAL thief who stole a generator from a Mackay business and committed other crimes, including driving while disqualified, while on probation is back in the community after he was handed a suspended four-month prison sentence in Mackay Magistrates Court yesterday.

Benjamin James Ostwald, 32, of Mackay was sentenced to four months imprisonment on two counts of stealing. He was disqualified from driving for a further two years. His sentence was wholly suspended and he was ordered to not commit any crimes in the next 36 months or risk going to prison.

A conviction was recorded.
