SES: Don't cross flooded roads

AS the wet weather continues to intensify some Tweed rescues have been performed by the Richmond-Tweed State Emergency Service.

But the service is unable to provide further details on the rescues at this stage.

Media officer Libby Spash said a minor flood warning had been issued for the Tweed River today.

"It's expected to reach a minor flood level of 3m, at about 3pm (NSW) today," Ms Spash said.

"We've been attending mostly leaky roofs so far."

Tweed SES deputy unit controller Jeff Gray said he was not aware of any rescues "yet".

"We're still seeing cars driving over flooded causeways," Mr Gray said.

He said he saw one car almost washed off Hogans Rd, Bilambil, which became dangerous as the causeways flooded.

"If it's flooded, forget it," he said.

"We've still got a lot of roof damage and sandbagging jobs coming in.

"If people are able to come to our Banora Point headquarters and pick up their own sandbags, we encourage that."
