Sex offender recaptured after jail break to front court
UPDATE: A CONVICTED sex offender has been recaptured after escaping from a Queensland prison farm.
Tyronne Speechley cut off his GPS tracking anklet and broke out of a Townsville correctional centre on Monday before allegedly stealing a car and making his way toward Mount Isa.
His jail break sparked a massive man hunt, which finally ended on Thursday night.
Police confirmed they arrested Speechley in Mount Isa, where he had friends and family.
The 25-year-old was charged with wilful damage, burglary, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and contravening an order.
He was scheduled to appear in Mount Isa Magistrates Court on Friday.

POLICE recaptured a sex offender who escaped Townsville prison in Mt Isa on Thursday evening.
The 25-year-old has been charged with wilful damage, burglary, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and contravention of a relevant order.
He is scheduled to appear in Mt Isa Magistrates Court on Friday.
EARLIER: A sex offender who escaped from a Townsville prison is still on the run after fleeing five days ago.
Tyronne Speechley was one of two men who escaped from a jail on Monday.
His fellow fugitive, Algana Tiers, was captured about 20km from prison, but Speechley is still at large.
Queensland Police located a vehicle they believe Speechley stole on the Barkly Hwy at Fountain Springs, south east of Mount Isa, on Wednesday.
Police have warned residents in Mount Isa, where Speechley has family, to remain vigilant and not to approach the escapee if they see him.
A police media spokeswoman confirmed on Thursday afternoon there were no further updates regarding the search.
