Shake it up with new stuff
BRISBANE band Art of Sleeping will give their new album Shake Shiver a good run at Splendour in the Grass at Yelgun this weekend.
On Friday, the five-piece indie rockers released the album, featuring the pumping singles Crazy and Voodoo.
Backed by artist management and public relations firm Secret Service, which has managed the likes of Powderfinger, The Grates and Bernard Fanning, Art of Sleeping has risen from a Triple J Unearthed act to a fully fledged band, often gracing national airwaves and this year touring extensively.
From the outset, Shake Shiver offers a delightful but non-groundbreaking musical journey.
The opener Win Your Heart will do exactly that. It's a slow-burn beginning to an album full of glistening, refined tracks.
All in all, Shake Shiver has the general feeling of a fairly generic indie-rock offering but it still has merit.
While Art of Sleeping haven't taken any great risks with this album, their harmonious tunes are easy on the ear and are a pleasant addition to the repertoire of sounds commonly heard on national youth radio station Triple J.
Whether it's your only day at the festival or you're recovering from a big Friday night with the likes of Mark Ronson, this band is sure to offer a beautifully crafted lead-in to your Saturday at Splendour in the Grass.
While it may not be ground-breaking, Shake Shiver offers a joyful listening experience and will likely transform into a captivating stage performance.
Art of Sleeping recently toured the country to celebrate the release of the Voodoo single.
After Splendour, the band will support The Jungle Giants on their mammoth Speakerzoid tour, which begins on September 4 and will bring them to the Great Northern in Byron Bay on October 1.
