Shakespeare pulls a capacity crowd
HE'D be nearly 400 years old now if he was alive, but Shakespeare can still pull a crowd.
A performance over two nights of one of his most celebrated plays packed out Tyalgum's Flutterbies Cottage Cafe last month, becoming the most popular event in the eatery's 10-year history.
An additional date of the Midsummer Night's Dream performance has now been added for this month.
"This is the most popular event we have ever done at Flutterbies," marketing manager Solar Chapel said.
"It was great to see so many people relishing the Shakespearean theme of the night and dressing up in Elizabethan costumes.
"People also came from all across the region, and all age groups.
"People seemed to love every aspect of the evening.
"The fairies, mechanicals, lovers and a magic potion gone wrong are all part of the fun in this play."
Mr Chapel said punters should consider dressing up as fairies, forest creatures, Athenian characters, a character from the play or in an Elizabethan theme.
"Flutterbies is a very special place with its own magical vibe... and this will be a very different type of dinner theatre experience that you will likely not have experienced before," he said.
The interactive event sees actors weave between diners' tables throughout the performance.
Mr Chapel said the edited version of the play would offer the best scenes, interwoven along with entertaining narration.
