Sharks coach backs Fifita for Origin recall

SHARKS coach Shane Flanagan says powerhouse prop Andrew Fifita has done enough to earn an Origin recall for New South Wales.

The 26-year-old has been at his destructive best in 2016, with 1702 metres through the opening 11 rounds. He was one of Cronulla's best in its gritty 20-12 win over Manly, with 183m from 22 runs, 33 tackles, six tackle-breaks and five offloads.

"I think Andrew this season has been outstanding," Flanagan said.

"He's worked really hard on some areas of his game that he needs to concentrate on; particularly the play the ball and some errors."

Sharks veteran Michael Ennis, expected to be named at hooker for the Blues for Origin game one today, also said Fifita's form had been a key part of the team's form this season.

Meanwhile, the Bulldogs announced the re-signings of David Klemmer and Moses Mbye until at least the end of season 2020.
