Join the fight against leukemia

TWEED City Shopping Centre will play host to the World’s Greatest Shave this Saturday as residents line up to do their part for the Leukemia Foundation.

The event will run from 11am to 2pm, and funds raised during the “Shave” go towards the care and cure of patients and their families living with leukemia.

Tweed City marketing manager Megan Connellan said the centre is expecting a big crowd.

“Anybody who had already registered with the foundation is welcome to come along to our venue on the day and have their hair cut or coloured,” Ms Connellan said.

“Some of our retailers have already registered and have been raising funds. They will take part in this event.

“We are expecting a good crowd and we will have free entertainment on offer.

“The event will take place on a stage near Best and Less. You can not miss the balloons.”

Kaos Hair in Tweed City is sponsoring the event and will provide stylists on the day.

According to the Leukemia Foundation, every hour of every day at least one person in Australia is diagnosed with leukaemia, lymphoma or myeloma.

Every two hours, someone loses their life to blood cancer.

This Saturday Tweed residents are invited to come along and support the generous people who are helping to find a cure.
