IT WAS a story of the kitchen hand, the thief, his boss and a pair of work shoes in Tweed Heads this week after Denis Welsh discovered a deed most foul.

On Wednesday, Mr Welsh learnt a dastardly act had been committed when he found someone had stolen his shoes from the front steps of his Tweed Heads unit.

"I feel violated," he said.

"It's just like someone going and stealing your undies off the clothes line. You'd feel violated."

Mr Welsh said when he got up to get ready for work he discovered his work shoes, a pair of slippers and some runners had been stolen from his Recreation St property on Wednesday.

He's a kitchen hand and said he was left devastated when he discovered the robbery.

"I rang Shazza (his boss) and told her I had a lil (sic) problem with my shoes," he said.

"Lucky she had some so we avoided that lil (sic) hiccup."

As a kitchen hand Mr Welsh said thongs were not appropriate for his workplace.

Tweed Police were notified and even though he felt reporting three pairs of shoes being stolen was silly, 'stealing's stealing'.

"It's a low act anywhere," he said.

"I've lived here for almost seven years and it's just disappointing someone would steal my shoes."

Mr Welsh's room mate said he heard someone outside of the house at 3am on the morning but thought it was nothing.

Police were unavailable for comment.
