She’s just 18 and has a degree

GENIUS: Uni graduate Chelsea Wallis is 18.

AT AN age when her friends are finishing high school and deciding what to do with their lives, Chelsea Wallis has finished her University of the Sunshine Coast degree.

Despite turning 18 in August, the Marcus Beach girl with a genius IQ of 165 said she had enjoyed her business degree so much that she was going to continue with postgraduate study next year.

Chelsea finished her final exam in November and will graduate in April - in all likelihood with a grade point average close to a perfect seven.

She began her USC studies at age 15 after jumping two levels to graduate high school early.

Because she was too young to have a driver's licence, she did her first year's study at the Noosa campus of the university before using the shuttle bus to commute to the Sippy Downs campus.

"Because I started uni so young it was a learning process, figuring out what I'm interested in and what I want to do as a career," Chelsea said.

"I did a minor in international business and took a lot of electives in diverse areas such as creative writing and sustainability."

Next year she will study a master of international economics and finance at the University of Queensland and has some high ambitions for the future.

"I love the creative industries but I want to make a difference in international diplomacy, law, economics and international relations," Chelsea said.

"I would be thrilled to work as an Australian ambassador or with an influential organisation that operates at a global scale, such as the United Nations or World Bank."
