Show guards against Hendra virus

THE Gold Coast show began today and organisers have taken strong hendra virus safety measures.

Show organisers are running the show in compliance with the DPI regulations for the running of horse events.

All competitors are required to complete a Health Declaration form when entering.

A full-time vet will be on the grounds for the full three days and hand washing facilities are in place.

The general public do not have access to the horses as the area is a trotting complex extra care is crucial.

The Gold Coast Show will be open today until 9pm at the Parklands in Southport.

The show will open tomorrow from 9am to 9pm and on Sunday from 9am to 7.30pm.
