Shut sign could come back

PERSONAL messages on the Tweed Heads Fire Station message board could make a comeback, according to Far North Coast Superintendent Chris Bond.

The board has long been leased by the station for personal messages with all proceeds going to charity.

However, members of the public found some recent messages offensive and the board was subsequently closed.

Supt Bond said he wouldn't rule out leasing the board in the future.

“It wasn't an easy decision to close the board and it's something I could look into resurrecting in the future,” Supt Bond said.

“I have asked them (Tweed Heads Fire Station) to honour all existing bookings but after that we need to go quiet for a while.”
