Sick seal is recovering with sea release expected soon

AFTER surviving several shark attacks and a very long swim, the New Zealand fur seal that was found on the rocks at Greenmount point earlier this month is making a good recovery.

According to Seaworld staff, the adult male seal is well on the road to recovery and could be released as soon as a few weeks.

After examination of the animal at the time, Seaworld decided to step in and rescue the seal before his health worsened.

Several wounds inflicted by separate shark species were the main concern. However, after several courses of antibiotics these seem to be healing nicely.
