Simply the best feelings you can get

We are told the simple things in life are the best, but what are those simple, best things?

Well, thanks to your old pal Informer, and in no particular order, they are as follows:

The feeling that is first thing Saturday or, better still, the first day of a holiday. That feeling when the plane lands.

The feeling when it's green lights all the way. That feeling when the Cadbury fruit and nut is on special.

That feeling when the endorphins kick in during a run. That feeling when your cruise liner leaves the dock and then, from the top deck of that same cruise liner, when all you can see is sea.

The feeling when you help someone. That feeling when someone doesn't need your help. The feeling when the cost of the car service comes in as estimated.

The feeling when you solve a maths problem on Letters and Numbers. The feeling when you have a full English breakfast for dinner. The feeling when you turn on the radio just as a reggae song ends. The feeling that is Netflix.

That feeling when no one wants to go to the beach. The feeling when the computer glitch somehow resolves itself.

The feeling of sitting around with one's family quoting lines from The Simpsons and National Lampoon's Animal House. That feeling when Mariah Carey shuts up or, even better, cancels. The feeling when bogans don't park next to you at the supermarket. The feeling when the cryptic crossword clue clicks.

That feeling when you make it to the toilet just in time. The feeling when the singer goes for the big sustained note and hits it bang on. That feeling when the final siren sounds after a nailbiter and your team is in front.

That feeling when your baby first smiles at you, first says your name and first runs to you. The feeling when your baby unleashes hell and the other parent is on nappy duty.

The feeling when the boom gate goes up. The feeling of being in credit. The feeling of learning something.

The feeling of being lost in reading. The feeling of dropping a size. That feeling when the lights go down and the band walks on. The feeling of a cover drive. That feeling just before you check the lotto numbers. That feeling when the American national anthem ends.

The feeling of getting something right the first time. The feeling of laughter, and of making someone laugh.

The feeling of a good memory, one that's always there and yet still comes out of nowhere. That feeling when February ticks over into March and summer is officially over.

That feeling when footy starts again. Proper footy, that is, AFL and league.

That feeling of being completely in the moment. The feeling of knowing. The feeling of cold water when you first dive in. The feeling of walk-farting and how it always makes you giggle.

The feeling of scratching a mozzie bite, of being able to understand the instructions and of not being afraid.

The feeling of not being offended by everything (although chance would be a fine thing these days. Geez people, chill out). The feeling of not being passionate about anything.

Finally, the feeling of feeling. There you go. The simple, best things. Simple, really. Until next week, all the best.
