Singing duo offer a little comic relief

A COMICAL singing duo headed up the highway to Brisbane to provide a glimmer of hope and some comical relief to the flood evacuees in Brisbane.

The Gold Coast duo Bram and Marina Nicholson known as Double the Fun received a call from the Brisbane City Council’s Arts Department, inviting them to come to Brisbane and do what they do best.

“Marina and I received a call at 10am on Sunday morning asking if we could entertain in Brisbane. We said ‘Sure what time do you want us?’ We didn’t hesitate,” Mr Nicholson said.

“We went to the QE2 building where there were 300-400 evacuees.

“We spoke to heaps of the people there. The group was very mixed, with a lot of elderly people from nursing homes. One lady told me she had been trapped in her car for three days.”

Volunteering Gold Coast spokeswoman Chantel Charchalis said music is very powerful.

“Music tends to put a new spirit of energy and hope into people’s minds, especially for those who have lost almost everything they own,” she said.

“Bram and Marina have always provided our local Gold Coast Community organisations with exceptional singing and hilarious lyrics, they are true theatrical geniuses and always energise the crowd and put smiles on everyone’s faces.

“If you are a not for profit group and looking for entertainers Volunteering Gold Coast have a whole list of talents and acts that volunteer their services at www.volunteeringgc.com.au.”
