Sirens show their winning style
KINGSCLIFF Sirens remained on the winning path on Saturday night with a 2-1 win over Northern Star in the JH Williams Women's Premier League.
Sirens were off and running at the first whistle.
With Gabrielle Nance controlling the centre, Sirens played controlled hockey and were denied on many occasions with the ball just missing the net. They were finally rewarded with a penalty corner converted by Nance.
With a lapse in concentration, Northern Star hit back and the halftime score read 1-1. Early in the second half, Kingscliff Sirens scored from a further penalty corner to Catherine Conlan. Kingscliff held firm to take the match.
Mullumbimby continued its winning streak beating Ballina 2-nil which takes them to second place on the ladder.
Mullumbimby connected well and controlled the game with great passages of play and ball movement by all players. Goal scorers for Mullumbimby were Sam Johnston and Meagan Sheppard.
I was once again awarded player of the match by our opposition.
Casuarina and Falcons had a hard-fought, two-all draw in their JH Williams Premier League clash late Saturday night. Falcons came out firing in the first half and dominated play but Casuarina scored first with a field goal to Kym Tuckwell.
Falcons strikers worked hard up front and did a lot of awesome leg work which saw them hit back through Stacey Butters who capitalised on a rebound off the goalie to level the score at the break.
Falcons scored a brilliant goal from Tianry Prichard and then deflected into the net by Kate Stuart to take the lead.
Falcons allowed Casuarina back in the game with a goal to Debbie Dolan to lock the score at 2-all with 10 minutes to go.
Outstanding players for Falcons were Lydia Charman and co-coach Amy Paron while Debbie Dolan was player of the match for Casuarina.
In Lismore, Glee and East Lismore played out a one-all draw.
There will be no hockey next weekend due to the long weekend.
