WITH the yearly behemoth that is the Woodford Folk Festival once again running its course over the Christmas to New Year period, Ramornie's sister duo Siskin River could be forgiven for a couple of weeks of sleep-ins after a hectic workload at this year's event.

With up to six performances across a wide array of stages, Siskin River delivered a text book example of what Woodford has become famous for among artists - an opportunity to go from festival act to festival mainstay in one week.

"We have been attending Woodford for years playing Chalkboard gigs and this year we were lucky enough to be invited to play some programmed spots," one half of the Siskin River duo, Shalane Connors said.

"It was a dream come true to see ourselves in that program among so many other artists we respect and we are over the moon with the response to our music at this year's festival."

On the back of Siskin River's first E.P release last year and countless kilometres all over Australia in the past 12 months, the girls drew a line under 2012 with packed-out shows culminating on the final day of the festival with an artist signing line only rivalled by the likes of major international acts.

"The response to our shows was nothing short of amazing," the other half of the sister act, Tullara Connors, said

"It was a fantastic way to finish up 2012 among good friends, family and fellow musicians at our favourite festival.

"It is such an inspirational time at Woodford and we will definitely carry that positive energy through into 2013."

The girls will now enjoy a well-earned break over the next couple of weeks before continuing the writing process for their upcoming first full-length release being recorded in Victoria in March.

"We are always writing on our travels and when we are at home so I guess we are at that stage of sorting through our ideas and songs to develop a theme for our upcoming release.

"Being stuck in a studio with Tullara will make for a nice change from being stuck in a car with her," Shalane said.

With Siskin River's stars on the up at such a rapid rate of knots, it can be safely said the two girls will be stuck together travelling to Woodford Folk Festival in the Sunshine Coast hinterland to perform for many years to come.
