Skipper Hopes to be fit for the Heat's next game

THE Brisbane Heat will give captain James Hopes until match day to prove his fitness ahead of their KFC T20 Big Bash League match against the Sydney Sixers at the Gabba tomorrow.

Hopes missed Monday night's deflating loss to the Melbourne Renegades after suffering an abdominal strain in the previous game against the Hurricanes.

Hopes has bowled and batted since the injury, but will need to pass a fitness test tomorrow morning if he is to return against the men in magenta.

He was named today in place of Peter Forrest in a 13-man squad, the only addition to the team soundly beaten by the Renegades at Etihad Stadium.

Sydney have won one and lost one, while Brisbane have won one and lost two games so far in BBL|03.

Tomorrow's match will feature a curtain-raiser between the CQ Seamers and the Gold Coast Thunders in the Final of the Good Guys Bulls Masters Country Challenge.
