Sleeping Virgin Australia staffer woken by Richard Branson

A SLEEPING Virgin Australia staff member got "a shock" when he was woken up by none other than the company's founder Sir Richard Branson.

The unnamed flight attendant, who was on standby at the time, was having a nap on the couch in the Virgin Australia Sydney office when Mr Branson dropped by.

"I popped into the office and the airport to say hello and check in to see what the team are up to," he said in a blog post on Virgin.com.

"This guy wasn't up to much at all - I caught him sleeping on the job!"

That awkward moment when your company founder catches you sleeping at work.

The entrepreneur posed for a snap beside the sleeping employee before rousing him from his slumber.

"Wow, did he get a shock when I woke him up.

"He must have thought he was dreaming because he went straight back to sleep," Mr Branson said.

Virgin Australia shared a second picture of the pair on their Facebook page and said they had a "good laugh about it".

"That's one wake-up call he'll never forget. After posing for a photo with a sleeping team member in the crew rest area, you'll be pleased to know that Sir Richard had a good laugh with him about it."

Mr Branson said: "To be fair, he was on standby, getting some much needed rest."
