Smiling bright in Pottsville
ORIGINALLY from Norwich in the United Kingdom, Sarah Downie now calls Pottsville home and has for a long time wanted to bring something a bit unique to the Tweed Coast.
Hoping to boost people's confidence with brighter smiles, Ms Downie offers her clients a pain-free solution, which can last up to six months.
Ms Downie opened a non-peroxide teeth whitening service which can be used in her home salon or at parties using a Pearlys 20minute express whitening machine.
We chat with Sarah about Lux Coastal:
Why did you decide to open Lux Coastal?
I wanted to do something from home that isn't already saturated, that's chemical free and I stumbled across Pearlys. I think teeth whitening is one of those things people have often thought about getting done but perhaps haven't because it's not right there in front of them or they're worried about the chemical effects of it and the expense. Typically it can cost thousands if you go to a dentist.
What do you enjoy about having a business in the Tweed?
I think one of the positives about having a business on the Tweed is definitely the community feel. People love to invest in small local businesses. It just feels really good to not necessarily keep money on the Tweed but it's convenient, you haven't got to sit in your car during traffic.
Is there anything difficult about operating a business here?
If I could pinpoint one thing it would be drawing people's attention, specifically on the Gold Coast, to our proximity. Giving that, I'm not in Tweed, I'm in Pottsville. It's really just conveying our proximity, we're in all of these amazing places. We've got a beautiful town, we've got markets, we've got heaps of other home businesses here and they just seem to really work in this area.
