Tweed snapper goes to the dogs

YOUNG Damian McGrath  doesn't mind telling people his life “is going to the dogs” because that's exactly where he goes to pursue one of his passions, photography.

The son of Border Park Raceway secretary Stephen McGrath, Damien, 12, is a regular at the track whenever there is a race meeting, chasing that “perfect” shot of the dogs in action.

According to his father, “Damo” has always had a strong interest in photography and enjoys the challenge of snapping the dogs as they race around the Border Park track.

“He is his own harshest critic and after each race, he looks at the photo he has taken and if he isn't happy with them, just deletes them,” Stephen said.

“He takes all types of shots, but loves the greyhounds because of the speed, but that's where the skill comes in.

When he isn't taking photos at the park, Damian, who goes to school in Brisbane, loves playing rugby league.

So next time you see a young man with a camera at Border Park, say “hi Damo”- he might just put you in the picture.
