Socceroos swap clubs to boost their Cup hopes

MELBOURNE Victory signing Tom Rogic is not the only Socceroo hopeful who has changed clubs in a bid to secure more game-time ahead of the World Cup.

Rogic has been loaned by Scottish club Celtic, and now fellow Socceroo Carl

Valeri has left Italian Serie A club Sassuolo without playing a game, joining struggling second-tier Italian side Ternana in an effort to improve his chances of gaining a ticket to Brazil.

The 29-year-old, a regular under former Socceroos coach Holger Osieck, has been unable to break into Sassuolo's senior team after suffering a serious leg injury in November, 2012.

Meanwhile, time is running out for Australian captain Lucas Neill (pictured) to find a new club in the January transfer window.

Neill, 36, has been training with English Championship club Blackburn Rovers, and his chances of being a part of the World Cup also hinge on playing regularly.
