Solid developments at Banora Pt
TWEED Heads South and Banora Point residents will have noticed new infrastructure in their neighbourhoods as work on the Banora Point Pacific Highway Upgrade approaches its final year.
An RTA spokeswoman said work on the upgrade, jointly-funded by the NSW and Federal governments, was on target to be completed by late 2012.
"Earth work, bridge building and road resurfacing along the project are being carried out throughout September, October and November," she said.
"The installation of the support beams, called super T-girders for the twin bridges over the central valley, will be completed by the end of November."
The spokeswoman said the retaining wall at the southbound off- ramp - near the roundabout - is also nearing completion.
Large trucks will continue to deliver support beams and store them under the northern side of Barneys Point Bridge until they are installed next year.
Blasting crews will continue to break-up hard rock at Sexton Hill.
UPCOMING WORK
- Rebuilding the heritage rock on the terraces.
- Landscaping the southern valley.
- Removing the temporary project vehicle access road.
- Building the Minjungbal Dr extension between the existing temporary eastern link road and Darlington Dr.
