Phantom of the Opera star to perform in the Tweed

SHE'S a darling of the Australian theatre scene and she's headed for Tweed later this year.

Marina Prior, most famous for her starring role in the Australian production of Phantom of the Opera, has announced she will be stopping off at Twin Towns Services Club as part of her national tour.

Just last week Marina released a box set entitled Songbird, which will feature her new single of the same name which was written with Fleetwood Mac keyboardist Christine McVie.

Marina will begin the national tour in August, visiting the Tweed in October.

Fresh from a concert tour last year called Encore, Marina is used to performing to large and often sold-out crowds.

The Songbird tour will offer fans a collection of the most-loved songs from across Marina's career in an intimate performance accompanied by multi-talented pianist David Cameron.

Marina is an award- winning artist, having won Mo Awards, Green Room Awards and the Advance Australia Award for her contribution to the performing arts.

She has been inducted into Australia's 100 Entertainers Of The Century and has performed more than 20 leading roles in her career so far.

She's released seven albums including Both Sides Now, Encore, Marina Prior Live and more recently Candlelight Christmas.

Did you know?

Marina Prior was born in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.

While studying music at uni, she auditioned for the Victoria State Opera production of The Pirates of Penzance and was cast - launching her career.

From 1990-1993, Marina starred as the original Christine Daaé in the Australian premiere of The Phantom of the Opera, opposite Anthony Warlow and later Rob Guest.

She was a judge on both the 2006 and 2007 Seven Network reality television series It Takes Two.
