South Sydney take down GC Titans in spectacular style

IT may have been the Rumble at the Reef at Cairns' Barlow Park yesterday, but it was South Sydney that prevailed over its coastal opponents the Titans, winning 30-24.

The Rabbitohs scored a breathtaking try during a pulsating first half, almost right on the 40-minute siren, levelling the score at 18-all.

The ball went through eight sets of hands before a pinpoint Adam Reynolds kick saw Dylan Walker score out wide.

Issac Luke was heavily involved in Souths' other two first-half tries, producing a cheeky inside ball for Greg Inglis, before the little No.9 pounced on a Reynolds grubber in the 31st minute.

The Titans scored a spectacular first-half try of their own, with winger Kevin Gordon launching himself at full stretch to ground an Aidan Sezer grubber after 24 minutes.

Three minutes later they had another one, Kelly bursting through a hole after a nice Greg Bird offload, before an inside ball from Sezer saw William Zillman score in the 35th minute.

The Rabbitohs looked to match in their keeping after two early second-half tries, but were forced to cling on desperately after Kelly hit back for the Titans, taking the score to 30-24 after a great flick pass from Jamal Idris.
