Spring cup on track for records

TWEED River Jockey Club secretary-manager Steve Huggins says it's all systems go for Monday's Spring Cup meeting at Murwillumbah.

“We've had a great response from connections, with 107 thoroughbreds nominated for seven events,” Huggins said.

“The track's nice and dry at the moment, and because we haven't raced since early August it's rested and looking a treat.

“We might even get the odd record tested.”

Monday's meeting will kick-off a big month for the jockey club, with the traditional Melbourne Cup gala meeting on Tuesday, November 3, and the rescheduled Murwillumbah Cup meeting on Monday, November 23.

This Monday is also Pink Ribbon Day, and there will be a charity auction and raffle, as well merchandise for sale promoting the work of the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

The meeting will feature a strong local and interstate bookies' ring, as well as full on course TAB betting facilities.

Gates open at 1130am.
