Stabbed child critical

A TWO-year-old girl was in a critical but stable condition in hospital last night after being stabbed in the throat by another child at Palm Beach on Sunday afternoon.

According to Gold Coast police, three children were playing with a steak knife attached to the end of a piece of bamboo when the stabbing occurred.

A six-year-old boy and an eight-year-old boy were playing with the girl when the injury happened.

The stabbing happened about 1pm on Sunday and ambulance officers treated the girl at the Marlin Ct address before transferring the critically-injured girl to Mater Children's Hospital.

An ambulance representative said the girl was haemorrhaging from the puncture wound and had lost a lot of blood.
