Stars prepare to shine at Murwillumbah

LEGENDS and stars of Australian rock and roots will lead a star-studded line-up of musicians when the Tweed Valley Country Roots Festival (TVCRfest) takes off in October.

Produced and presented by award-winning music producer Nash Chambers, and sister, country music superstar Kasey Chambers, the festival will be headlined by the likes of Chambers, Tim Rogers, Tex Perkins and the Band of Gold, John Williamson and soul-sisters Vika and Linda Bull.

Nash said he and Kasey were happy to have assembled a top range of artists for the festival.

"It's so exciting to be bringing the cream of the Country Roots genre to Murwillumbah for the Tweed Valley Country Roots Festival," he said.

"We are very proud to have such a great line-up and look forward to building this fantastic event over the coming years."

Other acts to play the two-day festival include former Australian Idol winner Wes Carr, Bill Chambers, Hussy Hicks, Little Georgia and Harry Hookey, with local artists to be added soon.

Carr, Chambers and Hookey will also hold a music workshop in the weeks leading up to the festival and TVCRfest has teamed up with Taste of the Tweed to kick off the festival with a street event to showcase local culinary talent.

TVCRfest will be held at the Murwillumbah Showgrounds across two days from Saturday, October 1, and will also feature on site camping, market stalls, art displays, kids activities and gourmet foods.

With the sights, sounds and smells of the Tweed on show, there will be something for everyone, but the highlight will no doubt be the headline acts, who will take to the stage.

Kasey Chambers said she was looking forward to bringing the amazing line-up to a part of Australia that holds a special place in the Chambers' hearts.

"We are stoked to be holding this festival with the most amazing artists and musos, most of them my good friends," she said.

"To be having it in one of our most favourite parts of the world is just the icing on the cake."
