Milne's comments cause offense
OUTSPOKEN Tweed Greens Party councillor Katie Milne could face code of conduct charges for calling fellow councillors “three stooges”, with one of the affected councillors saying she should be forced to stand down temporarily.
Cr Phil Youngblutt, who found himself in hot water 18 months ago for calling some Tweed voters “morons”, says Cr Milne, who has faced previous code of conduct charges, should have come to
realise name calling was unacceptable.
“She's gone over the top again,” said Cr Youngblutt, adding that a code of conduct complaint should be lodged.
“In my opinion she should be stood down as a councillor for some time.
“I intend going to (NSW State MP for Lismore) Thomas George and get him to have a word to Don Page, who is Minister for Local Government.”
Last week in a letter to the Daily News Cr Milne complained about other councillors and described Mayor Kevin Skinner, Cr Warren Polglase and Cr Youngblutt as “three stooges”.
An infuriated Cr Skinner said the remark was offensive and has revealed he intends to drop Cr Milne from a visit to Sydney to meet new state Environment Minister Robyn Parker.
Cr Polglase, who earlier this year faced a code of conduct complaint after telling a member of the public to “get a job”, has also warned Cr Milne's comments “could lead to further action”.
