Stop for more traffic changes

THE ROADS and Traffic Authority has warned motorists there will be further changes to traffic conditions around Sexton Hill next week.

The Laura Street bridge is under construction and expected to be opened to traffic in April.

A spokesman said yesterday the right turn into Laura Street from the eastern road was now permanently closed.

Residents were informed in a letter mailed to their homes.

Barrier movement, line marking and removal would be carried out until Wednesday, April 6.

“Southbound traffic from Darlington Drive will enter the highway by the northern roundabout.”

Minor delays were expected on the Darlington Drive western roundabout, as short traffic stops allowed trucks to go through.

“Traffic control will be in place and minor delays are expected,” the spokesman said.

“The speed limit has been reduced to 40 km/h for the safety of workers, motorists and pedestrians.”

Work will also continue on Pioneer Parade.

“Heavy vehicles will be travelling along this route, to allow a retaining wall to be built at the rear of Pioneer Parade properties.”

The RTA has asked motorists to be patient when dealing with traffic delays. They have announced the overall work is progressing as planned and is on track to open to traffic by mid-2012 and to be completed by the end of 2012.
