THE Sunshine Coast's newest TV star is not going to be the next top model, he is not a contender for Australian Idol and he might think he can dance, but that is not what is going to give him notoriety.

He will be known for being loud-mouthed, arrogant and a self-confessed “player”.

A 16-year-old known as Kyle will make his television debut tonight on the new Channel Seven observational documentary, World's Strictest Parents.

For the show, Kyle was sent to live with the Gibsons, a devoutly religious family in the US bible belt.

At home, Kyle had been repeatedly suspended from school for bullying, fighting and threatening teachers.

When he was not binge-drinking with his mates he was either entertaining a new girlfriend or subjecting his grandparents, who have raised him since he was three, to a tirade of swearing.

So Kyle's grandparents asked him to apply to be a part of World's Strictest Parents and he was sent stateside to be whipped into shape.

There he was forced to live by the Gibsons' rules - no swearing, no smoking, no wild parties, and early curfews.

Seven days to reform the wayward teenager.

Did it work? “Not really,” Kyle told The Daily on the eve of his television debut.

“I went for the experience, I just wanted to go to America.

“I got to go to America for free.”

During his week with the Gibson family, Kyle experienced a life completely different from the one he leads in Australia where, in his own words, he would “go out and stay out and get drunk and chill with mates”.

“(The Gibsons) don't have any fun, they go to homeless shelters and feed homeless people,” he said.

But did the experience change him at all?

“Nup, I'm still the same,” he said.

“I think (my grandparents) are a bit concerned because they thought I would change, but I knew I would never change.”

Kyle, from Coolum, who says he works three jobs, said that there are a lot of rougher kids in his area who would have got more out of the experience than he did, but that does not mean he did not take anything away with him.

“It made me think that I don't want to be a homeless person because they have it so bad,” he said.

World's Strictest Parents premieres on Channel Seven tonight at 7.30pm.
