Student survives 10m fall

WITNESSES at the scene of an incident at Bond University on Saturday night described the sound of the impact of a man falling from a roof like the sound of a gunshot.

The Queensland Ambulance Service was called to the campus about 7.30pm where a 20-year-old male had fallen about 10m to the concrete footpath below.

The man was taken to the Gold Coast Hospital in a stable condition with suspected head injuries.

A statement from the university said the man was a student from another university visiting a friend at the campus.

"The visiting student attempted to walk on the roof of the walkway between the sports hall and gym," the statement said.

"The roof failed to hold his weight and he fell to the ground, injuring himself in the process. He is reported to be in a stable condition."
