Students learn outside the classroom

PARAMEDICS, police and firefighters headed to Murwillumbah East Primary School but there was no emergency.

Instead, kindergarten to Year 2 students were able to learn all about people in our community and the work they do.

"The children learnt about what they do, how they help us and what their responsibilities are," assistant principal Jessica Smith said.

"It was wonderful to have them here."

Today was all about teaching the students real life experiences and helping to develop positive relationships.

"It links in perfectly with what the kids are learning," Miss Smith said.

"It was hands on and really engaging."

The school aims to keep students interested in what they're leaning and to achieve this teachers try to take learning outside of the classroom.

The day is an annual event, which aims to build positive community partnerships.
