STUDY: Women nicer on Facebook

WOMEN tend to use more polite and compassionate language on Facebook than men - many of whom are inclined to use more hostile words on the social media platform.

An international study published in the PLOS One journal yesterday analysed the language used by 65,000 Facebook users.

By using a computational algorithm, it found women mentioned friends, family and social life more than men did. Men instead used angrier and more argumentative language than women and discussed objects more than people.
