Suggest a speed camera location

TWEED residents are invited to suggest speed-camera locations.

The NSW Road Traffic Authority has welcomed the Auditor-General Peter Achterstraat's launch of a survey to provide feedback on the effectiveness of speed-camera locations.

RTA chief executive Michael Bushby encouraged people to take part in the survey which can be found on the Audit Office of New South Wales website or via a link on the RTA website.

“The survey aims to give the community an opportunity to provide information about where they believe speed cameras are providing a road safety benefit and where they might need to be reviewed,” Mr Bushby said.

“The Premier announced a review of speed cameras recently and this survey will form an integral part of that review.

“We know speed cameras have a proven safety benefit and we want to ensure the cameras are located in areas where they can provide the greatest benefit to all road users.”

Mr Bushby said it was important for the Tweed community to provide feedback about sites in their area or on routes they travel.

“People can nominate fixed speed-camera locations they believe need to be reviewed and the sites where they believe the cameras have improved safety,” he said.

“Comments for the Auditor General's consideration can be provided until May 2.”

Tweed residents who wish to take part in the survey can visit www.audit.nsw.gov.au.

Additional information about the survey can be found on the NSW RTA website.
