Sunrise presenter says 'yes' to partner's proposal

SUNRISE star Edwina Bartholomew has announced her engagement to long-time beau Neil Varcoe in an adorable post on Instagram.

The breakfast show presenter confirmed that Varcoe, a digital journalist, popped the question to her two weeks ago.

"And I said ... umm ... ahh ... let me have a think ... just kidding ... YES,” Bartholomew wrote on Instagram, alongside a photo of the couple and their recently acquired blue heeler puppy Mate.

"We are over the moon.”

The sweet photograph was shot on their property outside Lithgow, near where Varcoe grew up, which they've spent the past 12 months renovating.

They recently put the finishing touches on the cottage, which they've named Warramba.

Bartholomew and Neil have been together for six years and in an interview with News Corp Australia last year, Bartholomew described him as her biggest supporter.

"I started (on air) at Sunrise pretty much around the time I met Neil,” she recalled.

"I was the Sydney correspondent, which involved a bit of travel. So the whole time we've been together, it's been early mornings and bags packed ready to rush out the door.”

Stepping back from travelling weather duties for an in-studio role was in part motivated by her desire to spend more time at home with Varcoe, she said.
