Superman Lynn just keeps belting sixes
CHRIS Lynn broke almost as many records as he hit sixes at the WACA Ground on Thursday night, leading the Brisbane Heat to a comfortable nine-wicket victory.
Lynn finished unbeaten on 98 off just 49 balls, equalling the record for most sixes in an innings (11) held by Chris Gayle and Craig Simmons.
He has hit 26 maximums this BBL tournament. To put it in perspective, The Melbourne Renegades team has notched 16, while the Stars have hit 11 collectively.
Lynn, who turns 27 in April, has smashed more sixes in the last two BBLs than any other player has hit in their entire Big Bash career.
Relegated to second fiddle, Brendon McCullum appeared to crawl to 50 not out from 31 balls with three towering sixes himself.
But the story was Lynn, who has belted 309 runs at a strike rate of 177 for this tournament from just five innings. That's 309 runs from 174 balls.
And he has been out only twice, bringing his average to 154.50. In his past 11 BBL games, he has averaged 93.
"He's like Superman at the moment, Chris Lynn,” former Australian paceman Damien Fleming told Channel 10.
"I just don't know where the Kryptonite is.”
