Supporting youth mental health

HEADSPACE is calling on the community to show support for youth mental health services.

A quarter of young Australians will experience mental health issues every year.

Tweed Heads centre manager Lana Jankowiak said Headspace Day on October 11 is an opportunity for people to raise awareness about youth mental health.

"Every Australian can share their support for young people experiencing mental health issues and raise awareness about the importance of access to services for all young people,” Ms Jankowiak said.

Headspace has mental health services for 12 to 25 year olds

Headspace Tweed Heads is hosting a community barbecue at Jack Evans Boat Harbour on October 15 from 10am to 2pm.

There will also be a screening of the acclaimed film 'A Girl Like Her' to help raise awareness of the harmful effects of bullying.

The community screening will be at Hoyts Cinemas Tweed City on Wednesday October 19 at 6.30pm.
