Surfer's body washes up on mid-north coast

A SURFER has drowned at a popular beach on the NSW mid-north coast.

The man, believed to be in his 30s, disappeared while surfing at Lighthouse Beach, Port Macquarie early today.

His body washed up on the sand about 40 minutes later.

He is yet to be formally identified.
