Surf's up for celebrities
IT'S not just the world's hottest surfing stars who show up at Snapper Rocks for the Quiksilver Pro.
The world-class event has also been known to attract the odd Hollywood celebrity.
In 2007, Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson took time out from shooting the film Fool's Gold on the Gold Coast and were seen at Snapper with surfing champ Kelly Slater.
Slater attended the event launch yesterday with his latest squeeze Kalani Miller.
Home-grown favourites to regularly compete include Mick Fanning, Joel Parkinson, Taj Burrow, Bede Durbidge and Stephanie Gilmore.
Rugby League star Andrew Johns has attended past events, as has ironman Kye Hurst.
Spiderbait drummer Kram appeared at yesterday's launch.
