Suspect to come south

POLICE are expected to extradite a man from Queensland following investigations into the attempted robbery of a Tweed Heads retail store.

Detectives from Richmond Local Area Command travelled to Gympie on Friday to interview the 21-year-old Casino man in relation to the armed robbery of the Summerland Credit Union in Casino.

During the interview, the man, who is in police custoday in Queensland, made statements in relation to both the Summerland Credit Union armed robbery on May 23 and the attempted robbery of the Cash Store on Wharf St, Tweed Heads on June 1.

The man is in police custody in Queensland for similiar offences.

Police will make an application for the man to be extradited to NSW for his arrest and charging following his release from custody.
