The Glen Northfield-prepared Grey Apache won the first heat in 23.72, before Darren McGrath's Mad as Shiraz zipped round in 23.71 to take out the second qualifier. The fourth heat was won by Claude Dacey's Elite Escort in 23.86.

Other impressive runners on the day included the Darren Crates-trained Eye For Quality who won the Maiden Final (420m) in 24.17.

The next greyhound meeting at Border Park will be on Saturday.
