T20 stars miss out on the ODIs

HE was named man-of-the series following Australia's two-wicket win in the final T20 game against South Africa in Sydney, and was also included in the ICC's 2014 ODI team of the year.

But Tasmanian all-rounder James Faulkner might not get a chance to push his World Cup claims in the coming one-day series against South Africa.

Faulkner was left out of the squad for the first two games, being played at the WACA ground in Perth on Friday and Sunday, with selectors opting for Shane Watson, Mitch Marsh and Glenn Maxwell to fill the all-rounder roles.

Man of the match in game three against South Africa, Victorian batsman Cameron White, is also unlikely to dislodge the likes of David Warner, Aaron Finch, George Bailey, Watson and Steve Smith from the top of the order.

Meanwhile, South African T20 captain JP Duminy returned home after the loss to Australia in game three to have treatment on a long-standing knee problem that threatens to keep him out of the World Cup.
