Aged care open day

AN aged care residence is offering free hearing checks and a fun day out for Tweed locals later this month.

Domain's Florence Tower Community Day is the residence's first such event and will offer potential residents and their families a chance to tour the facility.

A free barbecue, entertainment and a range of children's activities will be provided and Domain staff will be on hand to answer any questions people may have.

Spokesman Richard Ings said it was important for families to view the facility to understand how far aged care had come in 2011.

“It can be hard for people to overcome the stigma that is often attached to aged care facilities,” he said.

“We hope that the Tweed community turns out to have some fun and also to see what our residence and staff can provide for them.”

Domain's Florence Tower Community Day will take place on February 26 from 10am until 3pm.
