Talent shines at golf club
ONCE a month on the first Sunday of the month, the Tweed Links Music Club brings the golf club to life with live performances.
The Tweed Links Music Club presents an afternoon of musical treats at the Coolangatta - Tweed Links Golf Club (main auditorium), South Tweed Heads for members and guests with local artists showing their talent.
The local artists are occasionally joined by some from interstate, accompanied by the Tweed Links Quartet, that performs from a large repertoire of music from blues to jazz, from musical comedy to big band songs and from vintage songs to pop music.
"October's show promises to be really great, showcasing the talent of Louise Harris, a soprano with a truly lovely voice," said a spokeswoman for the group.
"She has been an up-and-coming star for several years now, has performed in shows with many of the local and Brisbane theatre companies and is a much sought artiste for Corporate events.
"The Music Club owns a beautiful Yamaha organ and this month's show, the much acclaimed Bill Schumacher will entertain on this wonderful instrument."
"Many local artists are given their first chance to perform on stage in front of a live audience and the club encourages this young talent.
"Many have gone on to careers in the entertainment industry and come back to visit from time to time to perform again with the club."
The shows are MC's by Bob Green and other artists on the afternoon's bill include John Everingham - vocalist/guitarist, and Thea Shepherd - vocalist.
"The Tweed Links Dancers add a little colour and movement to the show," the spokeswoman said.
There is no need to book.
Tickets are $6 for Golf Club members and $10 for non-members.
The shows start at 2pm (NSW).
